Pantone’s 2017 color of the year

Pantone has announced it’s color of 2017: Greenery 15-0343 (Hex#93b658) ! Pantone’s Executive Director says: “Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with the reassurance we yearn for amid a tumultuous social and political environment. Satisfying our growing desire to rejuvenate and revitalize, Greenery symbolizes the reconnection we week with nature, one another and a larger purpose.” How do they pick just one color to represent a year?  Pantone states that this is a “symbolic color selection; a color snapshot of what we see taking place in our global...

Studio Sample album for Capitale, NY

Providing popular venues with a sample from your studio is a very wise idea. One such popular venue is called Capitale in New York city. It’s a stunningly opulent place for high end events that is in an old bank. Danny Weiss asked me to design a studio sample for him so that his name is in front of prospective brides! He likes to leave the cover material up to me….. we never just do ‘black’ for a venue sample – we want to stand out. Venue samples are designed way differently than an album for a wedding couple. Published on Picaboo Yearbook blog

As many of our clients know when we’re not working on our clients projects – we are homeschooling our two kids ages 7 and 12. We’re on our 6th year! Wow. My volunteer role is Yearbook Director...

photography industry challenge: professional VS publicly offered products

As the photography industry has evolved from film to digital photographers have been rapidly losing control over the usage of their images. In the day of film, a photographer need only retain the negatives – or sell them at a premium.  When we lived on Maui, wedding photographers would literally ask their couples “which of these negatives do you want to buy” and then either sharpie or hole punch out the remaining images. Pretty brutal and left a bad taste with the couples.  When Chad and I were married, digital hadn’t emerged and we purchased our negatives and our...

Finao nextONE: hybrid matt+flush

So excited to share with you the latest offering from Finao – the hybrid matt+flush combination album called the Finao nextONE. I’ve been meaning to blog this for a LONG TIME but have been too busy designing to stop but today is that day! Is too good not to share. This is an album that I designed for our own personal enjoyment (this is our own family!) ;D I’m eternally grateful to Finao for the opportunity to explore the workings of this fantastic new album.  I have designed many hybrids before…. the Renaissance Galleria, Leather Craftsmen 8500/7500 and of course the...
